Collette Savard: Music

I Didn't Know

(Collette Savard)
words and music © 2007 Collette Savard Cocosongs/SOCAN
Sometimes I feel bad about singing this song. I look out into the audience and see nice people I know who have been unlucky in love and I think who am I to say that it will happen for them someday when I really don't know. Then I remember that love can be found everywhere not just in romantic relationships. And anyway just look at John he didn't find true love until he was 104 years old!
I DIDN'T KNOW

I didn't know how far I could go
Until he took me to the edge
I didn't know I didn't know love
Until my heart to him I pledged
I didn't know there was a secret
Until he whispered in my ear
Now it's so clear
I didn't know

You think you know and you're going to tell me
You and all your good advice
You think you'll show me exactly what life is
And how we all must pay a price
But I've been watching you and all your silly games
You know I once was the same
I didn't know

There's no way until the day arrives
You will see what so many prophesize
It's not lost to you
It just wears a good disguise
Right now you're jaded
But someday you'll realize
You just didn't know

You don't have to think of where to look
It knows how to find you
Everything you're searching for is just one step behind you
I know you have it figured out but if I could just remind you
Though the opposite is said
It's without love we are blind

There's no way until the day arrives
That you will see what so many prophesize
It's not lost to you
It just wears a good disguise
Right now you're jaded
But someday you'll realize
You just didn't know
