Collette Savard: Music

Something's Missing

(Collette Savard)
words and music © 2007 Collette Savard Cocosongs/SOCAN
Around the time I wrote this, I was playing my ukulele on the subway when a man came up to me to say that he had just located the bylaw which prohibited me from playing an instrument on the subway. He then said: "This is not the 16th century and you are not a troubadour!". Although this song was not initially written about him, I dedicate it to you Mr. Grinch!
Something's Missing

You tried to explain yourself
I guess you guessed I was onto you
I couldn't quite pick it out
At first I had some doubts
But now I know
You lost your soul
A-oh oh

Is it on a shelf ?
Did it fall out somewhere?
Take a good look at yourself
You'll see you need it
Oh so bad
You'd be so glad
A-oh to get it back

It must be hard for you
To be so evil and so cruel
I'd like to help you but
Each time you're near
I get freaked out

So I'll save myself
And stay away from you
Maybe someone else
Will be brave and help you out
Who knows
They might find your soul

Your secret's safe with me
I'm sure nobody else can see
It hardly even shows
I bet you that they'll never know

Until you open your mouth
Or maybe breath the air
They might figure out
There's something missing there
Oh no
You lost your soul
